Begin with a slow walk outdoors, inviting children to collect fallen natural materials. Talk together about what feels smooth, rough, soft or bendy.
Offer simple looms made from sticks or cardboard. Children can wrap, thread and layer materials, making decisions about pattern and texture as they work.
Display the weavings at children’s eye level and revisit them with questions: What did you notice? What changed as you worked?
